Chapels and booking
Croydon Crematorium has two chapels, neither consecrated, so services of any faith or none can be held in either. The West Chapel has a traditional design with a vaulted ceiling and wooden pews, seating 80. The East Chapel is a more modern space with upholstered linked seating for 126, and its curtain can be drawn at committal or left open, whichever the family prefers. Standard services run Monday to Friday at 45-minute intervals between 9am and 4pm, with a Saturday morning slot from 9:30am to 11:45am. The reduced £844 fee applies either to a service booked before 10am, or to a booking with no service and no mourners at all – it isn’t a general early-bird discount. The crematorium’s Obitus music system covers a wide music library and can incorporate a photo slideshow or video tribute, and services can be webcast live with 28-day catch-up access. Source: Croydon Council – our chapels.
Parking and access
Croydon Crematorium sits within Mitcham Road Cemetery and has a large car park, reachable from two separate entrances – one on Thornton Road and one on Mitcham Road – which gives mourners arriving from different parts of the borough a choice of route in.
The grounds are open to visitors every day of the year, including bank holidays: 9am to 7pm from April to September, and 9am to 5pm from October to March. Source: Croydon Council – Croydon Crematorium.
