Croydon cemetery fees: Queen's Road sells no new graves

Last updated 28 July 2026

Croydon cemetery fees

Current burial and cemetery fees for the London Borough of Croydon, effective 1 April 2025. Croydon Bereavement Services manages two cemeteries – Mitcham Road Cemetery (opened 1897) and Queen’s Road Cemetery (opened 1861) – plus Greenlawn Memorial Park, an American-style lawn cemetery. Mitcham Road Cemetery also contains Croydon Crematorium.

The Exclusive Right of Burial is purchased for a 50-year term at all sites. Grave availability varies sharply by site: Queen’s Road Cemetery has no new graves left at all (burial is only possible in an existing family grave, with the owner’s permission), Mitcham Road has a limited number of new graves alongside reclaimed graves, and Greenlawn Memorial Park is the borough’s main source of new graves. Greenlawn is laid out as an American-style lawn cemetery with flat tablets set into the ground rather than upright headstones – closer to the informal, low-maintenance look some families search for under “natural burial”, though it is not a dedicated woodland or natural burial ground.

About Croydon cemeteries

Croydon Bereavement Services operates three burial sites across the borough:

Mitcham Road Cemetery (Mitcham Road, Croydon CR9) is the council’s main active cemetery and contains the crematorium. Limited new graves and reclaimed graves are available.

Queen’s Road Cemetery (Queen’s Road, Croydon) dates from 1861. It has no new graves left – burial is only possible in an existing family grave with the owner’s permission – but reclaimed graves are available.

Greenlawn Memorial Park is an American-style lawn cemetery with flat tablets rather than upright headstones, and is the borough’s main source of new graves, priced at the same ERB rate as the other sites.

Fees are effective from 1 April 2025. The 2026/27 fee schedule was not yet published online at the date of verification (May 2026).
