The £1,080 standard cremation fee above is what the council charges for the cremation itself. The funeral director’s charges are separate and paid on top, which is why two families using the same crematorium can pay very different totals. Our directory of funeral directors in Liverpool lists every firm with premises in the city alongside the prices each one publishes.

Two chapels

Springwood has two chapels standing side by side – the Rosemary Chapel, which seats 90, and the smaller Myrtle Chapel, which seats 40. Services run every 30 minutes in both. Rosemary Chapel services start at 9am with the last at 4pm; Myrtle Chapel services start at 9.15am with the last at 3.45pm. A double slot can be booked if you need more time, though services must start on time to avoid delaying the rest of the day’s schedule.

Grounds, parking and remembrance

Opened in 1975, Springwood sits within landscaped gardens that include a woodland area and a Baby Garden. The Garden of Remembrance and Garden of Contemplation have around 90 rose bed sections for scattering ashes. Parking is available at both the Rosemary and Myrtle chapels, though spaces can be limited when services are running in both at once – the council advises allowing extra time, since cremation services can’t be delayed for late arrivals.

The Book of Remembrance room sits next to the Rosemary Chapel, with toilet facilities also available there.
