Ceremony rooms and facilities
The Park has three ceremony spaces, sized to suit different numbers of mourners and styles of service – Plymouth City Council’s own executive decision briefing describes them as “designed to meet the varying needs to suit the number of mourners and the desired style of the ceremony.” Each has audio-visual equipment for the service itself and to let people who can’t attend in person take part remotely. A separate café and wake facility is available for gatherings before or after a ceremony.
Facility figures repeated by several funeral directors serving Plymouth (not published directly by the council itself) put the three rooms at roughly 120, 80 and 12 mourners – treat these as directional rather than council-confirmed, since the council’s own published material describes the rooms by purpose rather than giving exact seat counts.
Grounds and parking
The grounds include landscaped memorial gardens, on-site car parking, and dedicated pedestrian and vehicle routes designed as part of the new build. The 17-acre site is set out with a children’s memorial area among the wider grounds.

About this crematorium
Plymouth Crematorium at The Park is operated by Plymouth City Council. It opened for funerals on 12 August 2024, replacing the council’s two former crematoria, Weston Mill and Efford. Within the first few weeks, 90% of bookings had already shifted to The Park; Weston Mill and Efford formally ceased cremation operations on 6 October 2024 (confirmed via the council’s own executive decision briefing note) and now operate as cemeteries only – burials, memorialisation and the Book of Remembrance Room continue there, but cremations do not. The council’s stated reasons for retiring the old buildings were the cost of heating and staffing ageing Victorian crematoria against near-zero remaining demand, not a change in policy.
