Child and stillborn cremations at Park Wood carry a real charge on Calderdale Council’s published table, unlike some other councils’ schedules. If cost is a concern, ask your funeral director about the Children’s Funeral Fund for England, which reimburses cremation and burial fees separately rather than removing the council’s charge upfront.

Chapels

Park Wood has two chapels. The main chapel seats 88 people, with standing room at the back and TVs in the foyer for overflow guests. A separate, smaller Snowdrop Chapel is set aside specifically for infant funerals, giving families a more intimate space to remember a baby.

Accessibility

Park Wood has ramps for access to and from the building, accessible toilets, and a hearing loop in the service chapel. There are dedicated disabled parking spaces in the main car park, plus two further spaces on the left-hand side just before the car park entrance. General parking has room for up to 60 cars to the right of the building.

Opening hours

Grounds: Monday to Friday from 7am; Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays from 9am. Gates close at 8pm in summer, moving to 5pm from late October. Bereavement office: Monday to Thursday, 8.30am–4.30pm; Friday, 8.30am–4pm. Closed weekends and bank holidays. Book of Remembrance viewing: Monday to Thursday, 8.30am–4pm; Friday, 8.30am–3.30pm.
