The Ceremony Hall
The Hurlet opened in 2021 on a 1.9-hectare site on the A736 Glasgow Road, around 600 metres south of the Hurlet junction. It was named Scotland’s Best Crematorium at the Funeral Awards in both 2022 and 2024. The Ceremony Hall seats up to 150 people on individual chairs rather than pews, with a further Waiting Area holding up to 80 people, linked to the hall by widescreen monitors and audio so overflow guests can still follow the service. Extra-large screens and a high-end sound system in the Ceremony Hall support visual tributes and any piece of music families want, drawn from a large digital music library. Webcasting
Families who can’t attend in person can watch the service live via a secure webcast link. This is a paid extra rather than something included in the standard fee: a live webcast costs £90, and a recording afterwards costs £50–£110 depending on format (downloadable video file, DVD or USB, with or without a slideshow). Parking and getting there
There are four car parks for visiting families, including one reserved for disabled parking. On busy days, staff are on hand to help direct arriving and departing traffic. The crematorium is on Glasgow Road, roughly 7 minutes’ drive from Barrhead and 12 minutes from Paisley; the number 3 bus to Neilston stops directly opposite at Levernholme Lodge, and Barrhead and Nitshill are the nearest train stations, both about two miles away. Memorial gardens
The four-acre memorial garden sits against the backdrop of the Hurlet Hills and is tended year-round by on-site gardeners. In 2023 it received part of Myeloma UK’s “A Life Worth Living Garden” – a Gold Medal winner at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, designed by Chris Beardshaw – with nine trees, hedging, stone paving and oak setts relocated and replanted on site. A tree is planted in the garden for every service held, and families can also choose a memorial plaque, tree or shrub dedication, or inscription.
