Booking and opening hours
Dewsbury Moor is one of two crematoria run by Kirklees Council, alongside Huddersfield (Fixby) Crematorium; both share the same booking line, with option 2 routing calls to Dewsbury Moor. The telephone booking line is staffed 9am–4pm on weekdays. Kirklees Council also runs an online booking system for funeral directors, which opens new appointments four days ahead. If you’re booking by phone, call before 9.15am for the best chance of same-day confirmation.
Facilities
The chapel underwent a £3 million refurbishment alongside Huddersfield Crematorium, completed in autumn 2019. The works replaced the cremator equipment and included a full refurbishment of the chapel interior, redecoration, new carpets and new windows. During the closure, Huddersfield Crematorium and neighbouring councils covered cremations for Dewsbury families. If you need to know the chapel’s seating capacity for planning a service, check with Kirklees Council directly, as this isn’t listed on the council’s own published materials.
