A Grade II* listed building
Coychurch has served bereaved families since 1970. The original buildings were designed by Maxwell Fry, an architect of international acclaim, and the crematorium is Grade II* listed – regarded as one of the most architecturally important buildings in Bridgend county borough, with stained-glass windows by internationally recognised artists. The site covers 16 hectares. There are two air-conditioned chapels, Crallo and Coity, each fitted with a pipe organ alongside digital music, webcasting and visual tribute facilities. Memorials and the Garden of Remembrance
The Garden of Remembrance includes granite burial plots, scatter lawns, Sanctum Columbaria vaults (both above and below ground), bench and tree dedications, vase blocks and wall tablets, and a Book of Remembrance held in the Chapel of Remembrance. A memorial courtyard within the garden holds wall tablets and vase blocks leased for fifteen years, renewable at the end of the term. The crematorium’s rose garden includes two rose beds dedicated to stillborn and preterm babies, with an arrangement with Princess of Wales Hospital (Bridgend) and Neath Port Talbot Hospital for the sensitive, confidential cremation of preterm babies whose parents have placed them into hospital care.
