Chapels and booking

Cambridge City Council asks for at least three working days’ notice to arrange a cremation. You’ll need a cremation application form, preliminary funeral service instructions, and the medical certificates – the council or your funeral director can submit these. There are two chapels: the traditional East Chapel and the larger, contemporary West Chapel, which has a balcony and can display photos and video during the service. Both have music and induction loop systems, and there’s parking for more than 100 cars on site. The bereavement services office is open 10am–3pm, Monday to Friday. After the service, ashes can be scattered in the grounds with staff assistance, or stored free of charge for up to three months. Memorial options include the Book of Remembrance, a columbarium, and several dedicated gardens, including a Babies and Children’s Memorial Garden.
