Wiltshire Council manages four cemeteries in the county: Melksham Cemetery, Holt Cemetery, Hilperton Cemetery, and Warminster Cemetery. The council’s Cemeteries and Burial Services team handles all burial bookings and memorial applications. Fees below are effective from 1 April 2025.
Grave space purchase (exclusive right of burial)
Exclusive right of burial (ERB) is granted for 40 years. A non-resident surcharge applies where the deceased was not resident within the Wiltshire Council area at the time of death.

There is no charge for the burial of children under 15 years where the child is a resident of Wiltshire.

Non-resident surcharge
A surcharge applies to interments where the deceased was not a Wiltshire Council resident at the time of death. Exceptions include former residents who moved out of the county for specialist care not available in Wiltshire, and those who died on active military service.
