About Westminster cemeteries
Westminster City Council operates three cemeteries managed on its behalf by Krinkels UK. East Finchley Cemetery is the council’s main burial ground; Hanwell Cemetery is the largest site by area; Mill Hill Cemetery serves the north-west of the borough.
Westminster residents benefit from substantially lower rates on grave purchase and interment fees. Proof that the deceased was a borough resident at the time of death is required to qualify for the resident rate. Cemetery fees are revised every year on 1 April.
Miscellaneous charges also apply: registering a transfer of grave rights £50, extra time in chapel (first 30 minutes included in burial fee) £247 per hour, searching burial records and registers £98, a duplicate signed deed for a grave issued after 2001 £100, and an exhumation application £323.
