Baby and child burial fees
Tunbridge Wells Borough Council charges reduced rates for the burial of a baby lost before 24 weeks’ gestation, a stillborn baby, or a child under 18 – and some or all of these fees may be covered by the Children’s Funeral Fund for England, a government scheme that reimburses burial and cremation costs for children under 18 (including babies lost from 24 weeks) so that grieving parents do not have to pay towards the send-off itself.
| Service | Resident fee | Non-resident fee |
|---|---|---|
| Grave purchase (exclusive right of burial) | £380 | £760 |
| Interment | £390 | £780 |
These figures are the council’s published fees before any Children’s Funeral Fund reimbursement is applied – contact the council’s bereavement services team (see below) to check what the fund will cover in your circumstances, as eligibility and the claims process sit with the fund administrator, not the council directly.
