Thanet District Council cemetery fees
Current burial and cemetery fees for Thanet District Council cemeteries including Ramsgate Cemetery and Margate Cemetery (St John’s). Fees are effective 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. Resident rates apply to those with a Thanet postcode (CT7–CT12). Non-residents pay double the resident rate.
Grave purchase – adult burial plot (exclusive right of burial)
Resident postcodes are CT7–CT12. All other addresses are non-resident. The purchase price also depends on whether the plot is a new grave or a re-used/reclaimed grave – Ramsgate Cemetery offers re-used graves at a lower purchase fee; Margate does not.

Burial and interment fees
Interment fees below include the environmental surcharge, which applies to all adult burials. Weekend and short-notice (under 3 days) surcharges are added on top where they apply.

Memorial permit
Fees apply to plots with exclusive right of burial and cover the permit only – stonemason, memorial and inscription costs are separate.

Notes on fees
The 1st interment fee applies to all first burials in graves purchased since 1 January 2010, regardless of the depth of that first burial. The environmental surcharge of £147 applies to all adult burials. Non-residents pay double the grave purchase fee.
