South Derbyshire District Council cemetery fees

Current burial and cemetery fees for South Derbyshire District Council, effective 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. South Derbyshire operates cemeteries across the district, serving Swadlincote and surrounding communities. For enquiries, contact the Cemeteries Office on 01283 595782.

South Derbyshire applies a significant non-resident surcharge: all Grant of Right and burial fees are treble for non-residents – three times the resident rate. This is notably higher than most English councils, which typically charge double. The 50-year grant is extendable for an additional 25 years.

Grave space purchase (exclusive right of burial)

All grants are issued for a 50-year term, extendable for a further 25 years on application.
