Shropshire Council cemetery fees
Current burial and cemetery fees for Shropshire Council cemeteries, effective 5 January 2026. Shropshire Council’s cemeteries are administered on behalf of the council by The Crematorium and Memorial Group (a division of Dignity Funerals Ltd). Seven cemeteries are covered: Emstrey Cemetery, Shrewsbury General Cemetery, Longden Road Cemetery, Alberbury Cemetery, Church Pulverbach Cemetery, Great Ness Cemetery, and Westbury Cemetery.
Grave space purchase (exclusive right of burial)
ERB is granted for 75 years.

Pre-need (advance purchase) graves are available but restricted in numbers per year at each site. At Emstrey Cemetery, plots are single-depth only – two plots are purchased side by side when a double interment is required.

Interment fees apply to weekdays (Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays). Contact the office for weekend burial availability.

Custom granite headstones (30in × 36in × 4in with 60-character inscription) are available from £849. Other stone memorial options can be arranged through the cemetery office.

About Shropshire Council cemeteries
Shropshire Council is a unitary authority covering a large rural area of the West Midlands. The council’s cemeteries are managed by The Crematorium and Memorial Group, which also operates Emstrey Crematorium and Cemetery on London Road, Shrewsbury. The seven cemeteries range from the larger Emstrey site to smaller rural churchyard-style cemeteries at Alberbury, Church Pulverbach, Great Ness, and Westbury.
