Renfrewshire Council covers the area immediately west and south-west of Glasgow, including Paisley, Renfrew, Johnstone, and Erskine. The council applies one of the highest non-resident surcharges in Scotland – non-residents pay three times the resident rate. A 50-year residency exemption applies. Fees below are effective 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027, a rise on the previous fee year.
Lair purchase
| Lair | Resident | Non-resident |
|---|---|---|
| Standard lair | £1,157.10 | £3,471.20 |
Note: residents with 50 years or more of continuous Renfrewshire residence qualify for the resident rate. No charge for lairs for children under 18. New lairs (from 1 March 2026) carry a 25-year right of burial under the Burial and Cremation (Scotland) Act 2016 (sections 14 and 16), renewable in further 10-year blocks, and this does not apply retrospectively to lairs bought before that date.
