About Oldham Council cemeteries
Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council manages seven cemeteries: Chadderton and Greenacres (both opened 1857), Failsworth (1887), Lees (1879), Royton (1879), Crompton (1891), and Hollinwood (1889). Hollinwood Cemetery also hosts the borough’s crematorium. The council’s fee schedule prices cremated remains plots only at Crompton and Hollinwood – the other five cemeteries aren’t listed for this specific service on the current fee table.
The council estimates around 39 years of remaining burial capacity borough-wide as of its August 2023 cemeteries scrutiny report, with land at Chadderton identified as a potential source of a further 20 years of space. Burials outside normal working hours (evenings, weekends and bank holidays, at the surcharge rates above) are available at all sites.
