Newcastle City Council cemetery fees

Current burial and cemetery fees for Newcastle City Council. Newcastle operates separate resident and non-resident pricing – for grave purchase and weekday burials, non-residents pay double the resident rate. Weekend and bank holiday burials and the concrete vault fee follow a different pattern; see the tables below for the exact figures.

Non-residents are charged at the higher rate unless: the deceased had previously purchased the exclusive rights as a resident; the deceased was the spouse of the person who purchased as a resident; or the deceased had lived within the city boundary in the five years before death.

Grave purchase (exclusive right of burial)

Newcastle grants a 50-year lease for all new graves.

Adult burial – weekend or bank holiday£2,378£2,944

The weekday non-resident rate is exactly double the resident rate, but the weekend and bank holiday rate is not – the council’s published fee schedule sets both figures independently rather than applying the same doubling rule, so the non-resident weekend premium is proportionally smaller than the weekday one.
