Grave purchase (exclusive right of burial)
Buying a grave – the “exclusive right of burial” – lasts for 100 years and is a separate charge from the burial fee itself.

Burial and interment fees
Everyone pays a burial fee unless the table below says otherwise. Where two members of one family are buried in the same grave at the same time, the lower burial fee is halved.

Middlesbrough Council manages three cemeteries in the borough: Acklam, Linthorpe, and Thorntree. All burials are for Monday to Friday during normal hours (9:30am–3pm Monday to Thursday, 9:30am–2:30pm Friday, shorter in winter) – contact the council directly for Saturday or out-of-hours pricing, which isn’t published online.
