Forest of Dean District Council cemetery fees

Current burial and cemetery fees for Forest of Dean District Council, effective 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027 (a 4% increase on 2025/26 rates). The council operates Mile End Cemetery and Yew Tree Brake Cemetery in Gloucestershire. Non-residents pay double the exclusive right of burial and digging elements of each fee.

Note on fee structure: Forest of Dean publishes combined grave purchase and interment fees in a single price. The ERB and burial fee are not separated in the council’s published schedule. The only way to isolate the ERB cost alone is via the pre-purchase option or the standalone “exclusive rights only” fee (see below).

Grave purchase (exclusive right of burial)

The Exclusive Right of Burial is granted for 80 years.

OptionResident (2026/27)Non-resident (2026/27)
Pre-purchase – adult burial plot (ERB only)£1,575£3,150
Pre-purchase – ashes plot (ERB only)£703£1,406
Pre-purchase – Desk Vase Tablet plot£666£1,280
Pre-purchase – Family Rose Plot£1,998£3,842
Exclusive rights only (grave, at time of need)£787.50£1,575

Pre-purchase means buying the ERB before a death occurs. The interment fee is then charged separately when the burial takes place. The “exclusive rights only” fee is a separate, lower charge for securing exclusive rights to a grave at the time of need rather than pre-purchase.
