About Dundee City Council burial grounds

Dundee City Council manages seven burial grounds across the city: Balgay Cemetery, Barnhill Cemetery, Birkhill Cemetery (including a dedicated Baby Area), Eastern Cemetery (also known as Eastern Necropolis), Pitkerro Grove Cemetery, and Western Cemetery (also known as Perth Road Cemetery or Western Necropolis). Balgay is one of the largest Victorian cemeteries in Scotland, with notable graves and mature woodland; it is now open only for cremated or hydrolysed remains. Burial areas are set aside for children at Birkhill and Pitkerro Grove, for Muslim burials at Birkhill, for Jewish burials at Eastern, and for Chinese burials at Pitkerro Grove. All cemeteries have pedestrian access 24/7; vehicle access runs from 8am until dusk. For burial arrangements contact Dundee City Council Bereavement Services on 01382 431536 or parks.burials@dundeecity.gov.uk.
