Cheltenham Borough Council cemetery fees

Current burial and cemetery fees for Cheltenham Borough Council, effective 1 April 2026. The council operates Cheltenham Cemetery and Charlton Kings Cemetery. No separate non-resident surcharge is published.

Grave purchase (exclusive right of burial)

Exclusive Right of Burial grants both burial rights and the right to erect a memorial for the stated term. All prices shown are for immediate use (burial within the near term). Future-use reservation is available for Heritage plots only.

Extending a lease: ERB terms can be extended at £650 per 25 years (adult lawn/Jewish), £220 per 25 years (child/baby grave), £380 per 25 years (cremated remains grave), £220 per 25 years (Cornish Hearts foetal grave).

Charlton Kings Cemetery: Due to limited space, advance grave purchase for future use is not available at Charlton Kings Cemetery.

About Cheltenham Cemetery and Charlton Kings Cemetery

Cheltenham Borough Council’s bereavement services operate two cemeteries and a crematorium, all managed through Cheltenham Bereavement Services at Bouncers Lane, Cheltenham.

Cheltenham Cemetery (Bouncers Lane, GL52 5JT) is the principal site, with several sections: lawn garden, traditional, Jewish section, Muslim section, heritage section, and woodland. It has a crematorium and chapel.

Charlton Kings Cemetery is a smaller cemetery in the Charlton Kings area of Cheltenham. It has no chapel on site and limited grave space. Services use the chapel at the main Cheltenham Cemetery for the ceremony before travelling to Charlton Kings for burial.
