Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge cemetery fees

Current burial and cemetery fees for Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council, which manages three cemeteries in Somerset: Burnham Cemetery, Highbridge Cemetery, and Brent Road Cemetery. Fees are effective from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.

The parishioner rate applies to those who lived in the Parish of Burnham on Sea and Highbridge, or the Parish of Burnham Without, at the time of death. Non-parishioners pay double all standard rates, unless the person moved into residential care or supported accommodation from one of the parishes – in that case the parishioner rate still applies.

No new grave spaces for body burials are available at Westfield Road and Highbridge Cemetery. New exclusive rights for body burials are issued for Brent Road Cemetery only. Interment of cremated remains at Highbridge Cemetery remains available with an exclusive right.

Grave purchase (exclusive right of burial)

All exclusive rights of burial are granted for a 50-year lease. Non-parishioners pay double.

Interment fees

Four days’ notice is required for an interment. Three days for burial of cremated remains. Fees include digging and filling of the grave.

Memorials

No memorial over 2 ft in height may be erected until six months after the date of interment. All monuments must be installed to NAMM or BRAMM standards. No vases, pots, cherubs, candles or keepsakes may be placed on or outside the plinth area.

The Rose Garden

About the cemeteries

Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council manages three cemeteries serving the coastal Somerset towns of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge. The main sites are on Burnham Road, Westfield Road, and Brent Road, with Brent Road Cemetery being the location for new full-burial plots.

Interments can take place Monday to Thursday 10am–2pm and Friday 10am–1pm for body burials. No interments take place on Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays.
