About Brent Council cemeteries
The London Borough of Brent operates four cemeteries in north-west London: Alperton, Paddington Old and Willesden New in the borough itself, plus Carpenders Park Lawn Cemetery, which sits over the border in Watford and includes a dedicated section for Harrow residents. Willesden New Cemetery has separate sections for Jewish, Greek Orthodox and Muslim burials. The high ERB costs at the three main cemeteries reflect the extreme scarcity of burial land in inner west London; Carpenders Park’s rates are lower, reflecting its outer-London location. Each plot at Alperton, Paddington Old or Willesden New typically holds two full burials plus up to six additional sets of cremated remains.
Burial rights come with a formal Exclusive Right of Burial deed specifying the grave owner, cemetery, section, plot number, and the 50-year lease period.
