Hendon and Milespit cemetery fees, Barnet
Current burial fees for the London Borough of Barnet, effective 1 January 2026. The council operates two cemeteries: Hendon Cemetery (Holders Hill Road, Mill Hill, NW7 1NB) and Milespit New Lawn Cemetery (Milespit Hill, NW7 2RR). Both share the same contact number: 020 8359 3370.
Hendon Cemetery shares its site with Hendon Crematorium, a separate facility operated by the same council. Crematorium fees are covered further down this page, in the “Hendon Crematorium fees” section – Milespit New Lawn Cemetery is burial-only and has no crematorium on site.
New grave purchase – immediate use (Exclusive Right of Burial)
Fees cover the purchase of a new grave space for immediate use. Pre-purchase (reserved for future use) is also available at Hendon Cemetery at a higher rate.

Interment and burial fees
These fees apply to all private grave classes at both cemeteries. Residency is assessed on the basis of where the deceased was living at the time of death.

Hendon Crematorium is a separate facility on the same site as Hendon Cemetery – it does not cover Milespit New Lawn Cemetery, which has no crematorium.

Chapels and booking (Hendon Crematorium)
Hendon Crematorium has two chapels, standing side by side, both available seven days a week. A standard service runs 45 minutes, with slots scheduled roughly every hour. Both chapels have webcasting available for family who can’t attend in person, plus a digital music system alongside traditional organists. Hendon Crematorium is operated directly by the London Borough of Barnet, not by a private operator. It opened in 1922. The site sits within 42 acres of multi-faith parkland.
About Barnet’s cemeteries
Hendon Cemetery is the principal burial site, offering a range of grave classes including mausolea and burial vaults. Milespit New Lawn Cemetery provides a quieter, lawn-type setting. Both cemeteries are managed directly by the London Borough of Barnet.
Proof of residency is required at the time of booking to qualify for the resident rate. Residency is based on the borough of the deceased, not the applicant.
